Project description:
To overcome the limitations of current centralized application management approaches, Swarmhestrate will develop a completely novel, decentralized application-level orchestrator based on the concept of self-organizing, interdependent swarms. Application microservices will be managed by decentralized organization agents within a dynamic organizational space, guided by distributed intelligence that ensures the alignment of application requirements and resources and supports the dynamic self-organization of swarms.
The Swarmchestrate concept will be prototyped on four real-world demonstration tools in the areas of flood protection, parking space management, video analysis, and the digital twin of natural habitats.
The Swarmchestrate project unites a unique combination of relevant multidisciplinary expertise and experience, ensuring the research and innovation capacity necessary to achieve the project's ambitious objectives. It will also create a pioneering new decentralized control concept and framework for executing data processing applications across the cloud-to-edge computing continuum. The consortium includes a total of 14 project partners from 10 European countries, including nine member states and the United Kingdom, as well as an international collaboration partner (South Korea). The partners represent a healthy balance between leading universities (UOW, TUB, TUNI, ICCS, UL, ENU, SNU), research institutes (SZTAKI, FBK), commercial companies (SUITE 5, FUEL, TUNI), and universities and research institutes.
